Projects by the Eastern Kern County RCD

Eastern Kern County RCD has funded several studies of our Indian Wells Valley (IWV) groundwater resources and is a signatory member of the IWV Cooperative Groundwater Management Group.  We also funded the Northeastern Kern County Soil Survey in cooperation with the County. You can contact our office to obtain specific soils information.


Eastern Kern County RCD obtained funding through grants for the following projects:

  • Sand Canyon Environmental Education Program (SEEP)
  • Car recycling and tree planting Programs
  • Tree planting at the Desert Empire Fairgrounds
  • Coordinated Resource Management Planning (CRMP) for Flood Management in the IWV
  • Watershed Coordinator Grant for IWV-Searles Valley

Eastern Kern County RCD helps to sponsor several conservation and education programs:

  • National Association of Conservation Districts Poster Contest for K-4
  • Sand Canyon Environmental Education Program (SEEP)
